Doha/IBNS: Croatia beat Morocco 2-1 in the third-place playoff of the World Cup on Saturday, leaving Qatar on a high note again performing beyond expectations.

Croatia’s Mislav Orsic scored the winner with a brilliant bending strike in the late first half.

This turned out to be the match-winner for the country as the opponent Morocco failed to get the better of them.

In a thrilling show, Josko Gvardiol put Croatia in the top position with a superb header as early as the seventh minute. However, Achraf Dari set the score 1-1 two minutes later.

Orsic sealed victory for Croatia—the 2018 runners-up.

After facing defeat in the semi-finals with Argentina, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic replaced Marcelo Brozovic with Lovro Majer in the midfield.

"This is bronze with a golden glow. We won a tough game," Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic was quoted as saying by Reuters.

"This is a medal for the Croatian people... It's really great that we won two medals in two tournaments, big congratulations to my players."
