Future Hope Junior Boys, Modern High Senior girls rule K C Mahindra All India School Rowing Championship

Kolkata, June 6 (IBNS): Future Hope School rose to the occasion in the junior boys sections while Modern High School stole the limelight among the senior girls winning a couple of titles each in the finals of the 43rd K C Mahindra All India Invitation Schools Rowing Championship at Lake Club course in Rabindra Sarobar here on Saturday.

Modern High School represented by Shramana Saha, Arkadeepa Purkayasta, Riddhi Bandyopadhyay, and Abheepsita Purkayasta took the pride of place In Senior Girls Fours defeating South Point High School without much fight, while Shramana Saha and Mohona Saha bagged the Double Scull title in the same group out-rowing Ballygung Shiksha Sadan, Future Hope’s Juman Ali, Setaur Rahman, Abdul Khan and Javed Ali won in Junior Boys Fours defeating South Point High School comfortably.  Juman Ali and Setaur Rahman excelled again to lift the Junior Boys Double Scull event  beating Young Horizon School easily.

The Senior Boys double Scull final in the 50 mts course witnessed a keen competition where  Dhakuria Ramchandra School pipped  Army Public School at the finishing line by  a couple of seconds. Madhav Haldar and Subojit Mali Rowed for the Ramchandra School to  win the crown.

Senior Boys Fours also saw neck and neck contest between St Lawrence and National High School for boys where Ankit Shaw, Aman Gupta, Adarsh Singh and Shuvam Singh Of St Lawrence got the better off a fighting National High Schools for boys by a narrow Margin.In the Junior Girls   division Sanjana Ghosh and Kritika Chakraborty representing La Martiniere won final the Double Scull crown. In the Junior Girls Fours event, La Martiniere, however, failed to live up to the expectation where South Point High School got its only title in the week-long meet through Janhobi Majumder, Sudarshana Patro, Srinita Mazumder, And Anoushka Chakravarti  in the final.

Olympian archers Dola Banerjee and her brother Rahul Banerjee along with Mohun Bagan Football coach Sanjay Sen   and  President Emiretus  of  Rowing Federation of India KP Singh Deo gave away prizes to the winners.
