Guerrero returns to Peru squad for Uruguay double-header

| @indiablooms | Sep 28, 2019, at 07:54 am

Lima, Sep 28 (Xinhua/UNI) Veteran striker Paolo Guerrero has returned to Peru's national squad for friendlies against Uruguay next month, the country's football federation said on Friday.

The 35-year-old missed friendly clashes against Brazil and Ecuador earlier this month to allow him to play for Internacional in the semifinals and final of the Copa do Brasil.

Peru head coach Ricardo Gareca also recalled midfielders Armando Alfageme and Carlos Ascues, both of whom have been absent from recent Blanquirroja squads.

But there was no place for Seattle Sounders forward Raul Ruidiaz, who paid the price for a series of ineffective displays at international and club level.

Peru will meet Uruguay in Montevideo on October 11 before a return clash four days later against the same opponents in Lima.
