I don't believe in split captaincy: Dhoni
"I don't believe in split captaincy. For the team there has to be only one leader," Dhoni said addressing a press conference.
The former Indian skipper, who quit as the captain of the limited national overs side before the upcoming series against England, said he hopes that the current team will become the most successful one under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
This will be Kohli's first series as the skipper of the Indian side in all the three formats of the game.
He has been serving as the Test skipper since 2014 when Dhoni reitred from Test cricket during the Australia tour midway.
"I believe this team will be the most successful Indian team under Virat's captaincy," Dhoni said.
Speaking on Kohli as a player, Dhoni said: "He always wanted to improve & contribute in the chances he got."
The 2011 World Cup winning captain said his journey as the skipper of the Indian side was good.
"I have no regrets. It has been a good journey," he said.
Dhoni took up the charge as the captain of the Indian team in 2007.
He created history when as a young Indian skipper he led India to win the inaugural World T20 trophy in SOuth Africa in that year.
He won the 2011 World Cup and served India as one of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket.
India will take on England in the limited overs series soon.
Kohli and his men earlier beat England 4-0 in the Test series.
