India lifts the under-18 hockey Asia Cup for men

Dhaka, Oct 1 (!BNS): India defeated Bangladesh on Friday in the finals of the Under-18 Asia Cup Men's Hockey Final, according to media reports.

India scored 5-4 to win the title.

After Bangladesh levelled scores in the 64th minute of the game, a shootout seemed imminent when finally Abhishek scored the winning goal for India with only seconds remaining before the final whistle, media reported.

Hardik Singh, who scored an important goal in the final was named Man of the Match while Pankaj Kumar Rajak was declared the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted "Congrats to U-18 hockey team for winning U-18 Asia Cup. Very proud of the team. I also congratulate Bangladesh for their spirited game."
