Pallekele, Aug 24 (IBNS): In the second ODI against Sri Lanka, Indian bowlers restricted the hosts to a minimal total of 236/8 in 50 overs here on Thursday.

Winning the toss, India came out to field first and bowled tightly to control the innings throughout.

Though several Sri Lankan batsmen started their innings well, the team lost their wickets at regular intervals.

At one stage of the innings, Sri Lanka were reduced to 121/5 but it was the partnership between Milinda Siriwardana and Chamara Kapugedera for the sixth wicket that helped the hosts to cross 200 mark.

While  Siriwardana scored 58 from 58 balls, Kapugedera was dismissed at 40.

Jasprit Bumrah had the best bowling figure for India with 4/43 in 10 overs while Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets.

India lead the five-match ODI series 1-0.
