Indian coach: Sourav Ganguly hits back Ravi Shastri

Kolkata, June 29 (IBNS) Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday hit back at ex-cricketer Ravi Shastri over his recent remarks against him and said he is mistaking if he thinks that only the absence of one member in the BCCI's cricket advisory committee was responsible for him not becoming the Indian coach.

"If Ravi believes that am responsible for him bot being coach, then he is mistaken. To imagine that I am responsible for him not being coach is living in a fool's paradise. There were far bigger names in the CAC than Sourav Ganguly," Ganguly told India Today.

Shastri on Tuesday criticised Sourav Ganguly over his absence during the CAC meeting when  he made his presentation for the Indian coaching job.

He said Ganguly's absence during the crucial meet was 'disrespectful' to the selection process.

Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar were given the task of selecting the coach of the Indian team recently.

Ganguly is a member of the BCCI's cricket advisory committee.

Speaking to India Today over the issue, Shastri said: "Nothing surprises me in Indian cricket anymore. A member of the committee (Ganguly) wasn't present and that was disrespectful to the selection process."

"Next time, be present in a meeting, especially when it is as important as this one," he said giving a direct message to Ganguly.

Former Indian captain Anil Kumble was named the coach of the Indian side.
