Indian cricket fraternity appreciates Ajinkya Rahane and his team's Sydney performance

New Delhi: Indian cricket fraternity appreciated the team's brilliant performance in Sydney which helped them secure a needed draw against Australia in the third Test here on Monday.

Rohit Sharma (52), Rishabh Pant (97), Cheteshwar Pujara (77), Hanuma Vihari (23*) and R Ashwin (39*) played fighting knocks to ensure India draw the test and keep the fourth Test much alive.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar posted: " Really proud of #TeamIndia! Special mention to @RishabhPant17,@cheteshwar1@ashwinravi99 and@Hanumaviharifor the roles they’ve played brilliantly. Any guesses in which dressing room the morale will be high?"

Another former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman said: "What a remarkable performance by Team India. Once again great show of resilience under grave provocation, spate of injuries and several key players missing. Bravo! #AUSvsIND."

BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly appreciated the performance and said: "Hope all of us realise the importance of pujara,pant and Ashwin in cricket teams..batting at 3 in test cricket against quality bowling is not always hitting through the line ..almost 400 test wickets don't come just like that..well fought india..time to win the series @bcci."

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh said: "Great resilience shown by india showed some character second inings to draw the game ! I would call it a match saving knock by@RishabhPant17and@cheteshwar1this is going to make the 4th test an exciting contest !!! #AUSvsIND #NoRoomforRacism."
