Mumbai, Oct 15 (IBNS): Sharing an important message to his fans, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Monday urged people to wash their hands and teach children to follow the step.

Sachin shared the message on a day when the Global Hand Washing Day is being observed across the nation.

Sachin tweeted: "Children are this country's future and their future is in our hands. We must lead the charge against germs by keeping our own hands clean and then teaching our children to do so too. Be the change. #GlobalHandWashingDay @UNICEFIndia."

Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is a campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits.

Global Handwashing Day occurs on 15 October of each year.
