India's Day 8 at Paris Olympics: Boxer Nishant Dev and archers disappoint, Manu Bhaker narrowly misses 3rd medal

Paris: Indian boxer Nishant Dev has been eliminated from the Men’s 71 kg competition after a split decision defeat to Mexico’s Marco Verde in the quarter-finals. Nishant started strong but was eventually outmatched by Marco’s sustained aggression in the later rounds.

In archery, Deepika Kumari lost the women's individual quarter-final 4-6 to South Korea's Su-hyeon, continuing the trend of Indian archers returning empty-handed from the Games. Archer Bhajan Kaur also exited in the Round of 16.

In Women's Skeet, Maheshwari Chauhan ended the day with a score of 71/75 and needs a strong performance tomorrow to qualify for the finals, where the top six will advance. Raiza Dhillon, however, is out of contention after scoring 66/75.

Indian shooter Manu Bhaker narrowly missed a medal, finishing 4th in the Women's 25m Pistol final at the Paris Olympics 2024. Manu lost the 3rd/4th place elimination playoff, missing out on what could have been her third medal of the ongoing Olympics.
