India's West Indies tour: Pujara dropped from Tests, Samson gets ODI call

After a humiliating defeat against Australia in the World Test Championship 2023 final, Team India are on their way to regain momentum in their upcoming West Indies tour.

The selection committee on Friday announced the Indian teams for both Test and ODI series.

In a significant change, the selectors have dropped Cheteshwar Pujara from the Test side after his lean patch which went on for long.

Ajinkya Rahane, who was the only Indian batter to shine in the WTC final, is back as Test vice captain while young Yashasvi Jaiswal has got a maiden Team India call.

Fast bowlers Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami have been rested while Navdeep Saini is brought into the side.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson and fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat are back in Team India's ODI squad for the West Indies tour.

India's Test Squad: Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini.

India's ODI Squad: Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shardul Thakur, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
