IPL: Kings XI Punjab beat CSK by 6 wickets

Abu Dhabi , Apr 18 (IBNS): In a nerve crunching encounter, Kings XI Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets in the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Friday.

Glenn Maxwell's heroic 95 and David Miller's late 37-ball 54 had enough power to reach the target of 206 runs which looked quite tough at one point.

 Miller smashed three boundaries and equal number of sixes to remain unbeaten at 54 while George Bailey was 17 not out.

Virender Sehwag, who opened the innings for Kings XI Punjab, was bowled out by Ashish Nehra after he scored only 19.

With two boundaries and scoring 13 balls from 10 balls, Cheteshwar Pujara failed to contribute much with his willow.

Maxwell's 43-ball knock kept Kings in hunt for the target.

He hit 15 boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

Maxwell and Miller added 115 runs in the fourth wicket partnership. 


R Ashwin picked up two wickets for CSK though he gave away 41 runs in his four overs.

Earlier, CSK scored 205 runs by losing only four wickets.

Dwayne Smith (66) and Brendon McCullum (67) added 123 runs in the first wicket partnership.

MS Dhoni's 11-ball 26 and Suresh Raina's 24 helped CSK post 205 for four on the scoreboard.

Lakshmipathy Balaji took two wickets for Kings XI Punjab.
