I've been sacked: Paul Van Ass

New Delhi, July 20 (IBNS) Indian Hockey team coach Paul Van Ass on Monday said he has been sacked from his post by the Hockey India (HI).

"I've been sacked, I've been fired. I was told this verbally by Hockey India director Roelant Oltmans after the World League Semisfinals in Belgium," Van Ass told NDTV.

"I don't know the reason, but I think could be because I asked Hockey India president Mr Batra to leave the turf during the quarter-final match," Van Ass said.

He has not received any official statement from the federation so far.

Speaking on the issue, Hockey India president Narinder Batra told the news channel: "We have officially not sacked him. Hockey India has called its meeting on 24th to take final call on Van."

Van Ass was appointed as the coach of the Indian team earlier this year.
