Jammu and Kashmir: DC Kupwara inaugurates evening football tournament

Srinagar: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg Wednesday evening inaugurated football tournament at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Kupwara.

The DDC, on the occasion, interacted with the football players and watched the match played between BHSS Kupwara and Kupwara Soccer’s.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC congratulated the organisers of the tournament and said that sports activities are prerequisite for overall development of the youth.

He said district administration has made concerted efforts to develop the sports infrastructure in the district and by now, there are so many playfields, even in far off villages available across the district.

The DDC urged upon youth to take part in the sports and athletic activities together with the curricular activities.

The players and the football fans applauded the efforts of DDC for facilitating playing of the match in the evening.

The youth said that for the last 30 years it was the first time when a football match was played in the evening in the district.

The playfield was wearing a festive look. Among others, District Youth Services and Sports officer, Jitender Singh was also present, on the occasion.
