Mumbai, July 17 (IBNS): JSW Group is all set to make Indian athletes a force to be reckoned with at the Commonwealth Games, scheduled later this month at Glasgow, Scotland.
In a bid to achieve that feat, JSW on Thursday announced the Sports Excellence Program, a sports development and training program being spearheaded and overseen directly by Parth Jindal, son of Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director, JSW Group.

JSW has earlier in the year inducted 28 athletes in its sports excellence program, basis an exhaustive selection criteria which involved monitoring potential talent over series of tournaments and feedback from experts of respective disciplines.

The Sports Excellence Program (SEP) will focus on the following 5 high potential sports: Athletics, Swimming, Boxing, Wrestling and Judo. JSW intends to continuingly identify young talented athletes who will be supported, nurtured and groomed to excel at the world stage through the auspices of this program in the future.

Parth Jindal, JSW Group, said, “We believe Indian athletes have tremendous underlying potential, which can only be tapped to the fullest by providing them with world-class training and also by giving them the opportunity to train with best-in-class consultants from around the world,.”  He added “Our ultimate aim is to create a talent pool which will bring glory to the country. As a passionate sports lover, it gave me immense pride when sporting greats such as Abhinav Bindra and Sushil Kumar brought laurels to the country. Through this initiative, we want to nurture talent which is capable of bringing the same joy and satisfaction at every Commonwealth Games and perhaps at the Olympics in the future.”

Siddhanth Thingalaya, currently training with JSW for Athletics, said, “This is a great opportunity for people like us. It is encouraging to know that such comprehensive initiatives are being introduced to nurture sporting talent and we are sure that this will lead to the emergence of more world class sports persons in India. JSW has the betterment of Indian Sports at heart and I am confident that this association will go a long way in helping sports flourish and India regain its lost fame on the world stage.”
