Kochi/UNI: The Kerala High Court has ordered that transgenders must be allowed to attend the sporting events of their choice.

Passing an interim order, Justice V G Arun said the transgenders must be allowed to attend sporting events in the absence of a separate category for them.

The court observed that a transgender has the equal right to participate in competitions.

As the organisers have not made any arrangement for them, the petitioner who seeks to participate as a woman can do so.

Earlier, the organisers had informed a transgender that she cannot attend the event, prompting her to approach the court.
