Lord's Test defeat: Virat Kohli posts emotional message for fans on social media
London, Aug 14 (IBNS): Indian skipper Virat Kohli posted an emotional message on social media for his fans after his team was criticised following the defeat in the second Test against England in Lord's.
Kohli urged fans not to 'give up' their hope on the team.
" Sometimes we win and other times we learn. You never give up on us and we promise to never give up on you either. Onwards and upwards," he wrote in his message.
After India lost their second Test match against England by an innings and 159 runs, several ex-Indian players have criticised the performance of the team on social media.
Ex-Indian cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted: "Caught in unfavourable conditions, not reading what the opposition threw saw India lose the Lord’s Test tamely without showing a fight. Hopefully lessons are learnt quickly and the rest of the batsman start applying themselves going forward."
Ex-Indian batsman Virender Sehwag said: " Very poor from India. While we all want to stand by our team and support them when they don’t do well, going down without a fight is very disappointing to watch. Hope they have the confidence and mental strength to comeback from this."
Popular commentator Harsha Bhogle remarked: "I think India should be the first to admit they were inadequate at Lord's. Had their moments at Edgbaston but this was poor. Very long journey up from here."
England have taken 2-0 lead in the series.
