Florida, Jan 16 (IBNS): Swiss Tennis icon Martina Hingis on Saturday reached the number one spot in the latest WTA doubles rankings.

She is currently holding the numero uno position jointly with India's  Sania Mirza.

Sania and Hingis on Friday won the  11th WTA doubles title together in Sydney.

"It's a really nice feeling having that No.1 ahead of your name," Hingis told WTA website.

"It's definitely something I was aiming for, and with Sania I felt like I had the opportunity to get there. When she became No.1 in Charleston I was just as happy as when I did it myself," she said.

Mirza told the website: "I'm so happy for her that 16 years later she's become No.1 again."
