Milkha Singh to be accorded state funeral

Chandigarh/UNI: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday directed the state government to accord a state funeral to the legendary Milkha Singh.

He also announced one-day state mourning today.

'The Flying Sikh' passed away here at PGIMER late last night after struggling with post-Covid complications.

Singh rose to international fame and brought several laurels for the country in Asian and Commonwealth Games.

CM Amarinder Singh tweeted: "Have directed that Late Milkha Singh Ji will be given a State Funeral by our Government. Also Punjab will observe one day of State mourning as a mark of respect to the departed legend."
