Chennai, Sept 17 (IBNS): Indian batsman MS Dhoni added one more feather to his crown when he scored 100th fifty of his career during the first ODI match between the hosts and Australia on Sunday.

He achieved the number while smashing his 66th ODI fifty in the match.

He became the fourth Indian player to achieve it after  Sachin Tendulkar (164), Rahul Dravid (146) and Sourav Ganguly (107).

Dhoni's fifty came in a crucial position in the match when hosts were reduced to  87/5 in the 22nd over by Australian bowlers.

Dhoni (79 from 88 balls) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (83 from 66 balls) joined in creating a 118-run sixth wicket partnership to rescue the hosts.

India posted 281 for the loss of seven wickets in the innings.

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated him by tweeting: "Yet another 100 for @msdhoni! This time in front of the stumps! Congratulations on a century of 50s Mahi ."
