MS Dhoni's gutsy knock in vain as Kings beat CSK by four runs

Mohali, Apr 16 (IBNS): MS Dhoni played a memorable knock of 44-ball 79 but could not help his Chennai Super Kings as Kings XI Punjab defeated the visitors by four runs in a group stage match of the Indian Premier League here on Sunday.

After Kings posted 197 for the loss of seven wickets, riding mostly on West Indian cricketers Chris Gayle's 63 runs innings, CSK managed to come closer but settled at 193 runs for the loss of five wickets.

R Ashwin and his men were given a scare when Dhoni came down the park to entertain his fans with a fast played knock that included six boundaries and five sixes.

He got strong support from the other end of the crease from Ambati  Rayudu (49).

However, Kings managed to limit CSK to 193 runs.

Earlier, Gayle storm blew over Mohali stadium as he smashed 63 runs off 33 balls.

Gayle played his first match in this tournament so far and left his fans thoroughly entertained.

He butchered the opposition bowling attack by hitting seven boundaries and four sixes.

Imran Tahir and Thakur picked up two wickets each for CSK.
