Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs, reach play-offs

New Delhi, May 7 (IBNS): Mumbai Indians defeated the host team Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs in an encounter in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, becoming the first team in the tournament to reach the pay-offs in the ongoing season, on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Delhi captain Zaheer Khan sent Mumbai to bat first and in reply the visiting team posted a huge total of 212 for the loss of three wickets.

Two West Indies players, Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard, scored 66 and unbeaten 63 respectively which helped MI to post 200 plus total.

In reply to the monumental target set by the visitors, Delhi's batting order collapsed to only 66 with only Corey Anderson and Pat Cummins getting double figure runs.

None of the batsmen of Delhi could get a partnership going and Mumbai bowlers kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.

Karn Sharma and Harbhajan Singh took three wickets each for Mumbai, while Lasith Malinga bagged couple.

At the current points table of IPL, Mumbai Indians is at the top with 18 points from 11 matches.
