New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the Indian archers for their excellent performance in the Paris Archery World Cup.

The Prime Minister tweeted, "Indian archers have performed brilliantly in the World Cup in the last few days. Congratulations to Deepika Kumari, Ankita, Komalika Bari, Atanu Das, and Abhishek for all the success. Their success will definitely inspire other talented players in this field."

It is noteworthy that Indian archer Atanu Das with his wife and star archer Deepika Kumari created history by winning a gold medal in the mixed doubles event at stage three of the Paris Archery World Cup on Sunday, sources said.

Earlier, the couple was on the backfoot with Netherland's Sjef van den Berg and Gabriele Schloesser gaining a scoreboard of 0-2 against them until the Indian duo got the last say when they changed the momentum to a 5-3 win, they added.

After Deepika scored a hat-trick in the competition, winning gold medals in individual, women's doubles, and mixed doubles categories, she was mentioned by the World Archery in their tweet saying, "This is going to take Deepika to the number one spot in the world rankings on Monday."

Compound archer Abhishek Verma also bagged the gold medal in the men's individual event on Saturday.
