R Ashwin makes special request to Narendra Modi for players participating in IPL

New Delhi, Mar 25 (IBNS): Indian spinner R Ashwin on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow cricketers playing in the Indian Premier League to cast their votes from any part of the nation wherever they are playing the tournament.

As per the IPL schedule, cricketers need to travel across India to play the games in the tournament.

Ashwin also urged the nation to cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The elections will be held in seven-phase this year and the results will be declared on May 23.

Voting will be held from Apr 11 to May 19.

Ashwin tweeted: "Always thought voting is the fulcrum of our democracy and I definitely would like to urge the entire country, each and everyone of you from every nook and corner of our country to vote and choose their rightful leader."
