Rio: PV Sindhu, K Srikanth reach quater-finals

Rio, Aug 16 (IBNS): Keeping alive hopes for India to clinch medals, Indian shuttlers PV Sindu and K Srikanth reached the quater-finals of the Rio Olympics.

In the women' singles event, Sindhu reached the next round by beating Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying.

Sindhu defeated her opponent in straight sets 21-13, 21-15.

The match lasted for 40 minutes.

Srikanth reached the men's quarter-finals by beating Denmark's Jan Jorgensen.
