Saurav Sukul defeats Arghya Das in Calcutta South Club AITA Men's National Ranking 50K Tennis Championship 2018

Kolkata, Apr 10 (IBNS): Second seeded Arghya Das fought hard before going down against unseeded Saurav Sukul in the pre-quarter finals of the ongoing Calcutta South Club AITA Men's National Ranking 50K Tennis Championship 2018, been held at the synthetic courts of the prestigious Calcutta South Club Ltd.

Arghya Das, currently ranked at 80 in the country was stretched to the limits by Sukul, who was once the finalist at the Grass Court Nationals at the same venue in the year 2013. Sukul, trying to make a come back, was steady till the end as he rallied to upset the second seeded Das by a close 7-5,7-6(2) that lasted for 2 hrs and 35 mins. Sukul will face Andhra Pradesh's Kondri Srinivas in the quarter final.

Top seeded Vijay Kannan had it easy again as he breezed past Anurag Mishra of Uttar Pradesh by a dominating 6-1,6-0 in less than an hour. Kannan will face local lad Anurag Agarwal in the quarter final tomorrow.
