Sharapova lifts French Open title

Paris, June 7 (IBNS): Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova won French Open title by defeating Simona Halep in the final of the women's singles here on Saturday.

The Russian star  defeated her opponent 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 in three hours and two minutes clash which was dragged to three sets.

Halep battled Sharapova for three sets and the Russian had to  drew on her fighting spirit  to clinch the match.

With this victory, Sharapova won the fifth Grand Slam title of her career.

She had last won the French Open title in 2012.
