South Africa win second T20 International by 6 wickets, pocket series
Cuttack, Oct 5 (IBNS) After bowling out India for 92 runs, South Africa chased down the target with 6 wickets to spare to take the second T20 International match and series, here on Monday.
Winning the toss and fielding first, the Faf du Plessis lead side bowled immaculate line and length and ran through the opposition's batting line up in the first innings.
Chasing a score of 93 runs, Proteas finished off the task with 17 balls and six wickets to spare in a match partially disrupted by the supporters.
Bottle were hurled by the angry supporters, who by the lack-luster performance of the home team were disappointed. Soon, a team of policemen had to intervene as things were brought under control.
Setting out to bat, South Africa lost Hashim Amla early as he departed for 2. Ravi Ashwin by far was the most promising Indian bowler. He bowled a tight line and gave away 24 runs in his for overs while accounting for Amla, de Villiers and du Plessis' wickets. AB de Villiers scored 19 off 21 balls, skipper du Plessis managed 16, hitting a six and two boundaries in his innings.
The match was however finished by J P Duminy. The left handed who won it for his side in the opening game, played a sensible hand to post an unbeaten 30 off 39 deliveries and helping his side go past the required score. He was well aided by Farhaan Behardien (11) and David Miller, who remained unbeaten on 10.
Axar Patel picked up the wicket of Behardien.
Making his comeback into the side, Harbhajan Singh gave away 20 runs in his 4 overs but failed to pick up any wicket. The other Indian bowlers too went barren.
Albie Morkel was adjudged the Man-of-the-match for his bowling performance.
