Sportspersons in Japan are resorting to Yoga

Kolkata, Dec 10 (IBNS). As the count down for Tokyo Olympics 2020 begins, sportspersons in Japan are resorting to Yoga to enhance their performance and are being guided by Tokyo based Ghosh Yoga Institute Japan (GHIJ) , Yoga Guru Jibananda Ghosh, who is teaching yoga in Japan for fifty yeas , informed here Saturday.

Jibananda , who is also the founder of Indo Japan Association Kolkata and teaches yoga at the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice and Public Prosecutor in Japan, is now in the city to welcome newly appointed  Japanese Consul General in Kolkata Masayuki Taga.

Jibananda ,accompanied by other  members of Indo-Japan Association Kolkata including acting vice president Dr. Sudhir Kumar Ghos, Secretary Nabinananda Ghosh and assistant secretary Ajit Kumar Ghosh  felicitated  Taga at a brief function held  in  Japanese Consulate here .

After being trained by  noted   Yoga exponent late Bishnu Charan Ghosh, Jibananda along with his wife Karuna Ghosh started teaching Yoga in Japan five decades ago.

In his fine efforts in popularizing Yoga in Japan as well as in other countries including  Australia, NewZealand, Italy and United States,Jibananda is now being ably assisted by his daughter Dr. Anchita Karmakar.

Jibananda  Informed that as Japan would be hosting the next Olympic Games ,  soccer players  and other sports persons in Japan are   showing keen interest in Yoga   to improve their skill and health. 

Ghosh Yoga Institute ,like earlier occasions, is  extending  their expertise in this regard, he said.

Jibananda,  said  that  beside sports persons, people in general are also  resorting to yoga  to live a healthy and long life. In this regard he specially mentioned about  Ghosh Yoga Institute old student  and  former Director of indo-Japan Association in Tokyo  102- year old S Mismi who was awarded  Padma BIbhusan by Government of India  for  spreading  Yoga  two years back.
