Mumbai, Jan 30 (IBNS) The eagerly anticipated third Season of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi today kicked off at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag amidst much fanfare. The opening ceremony of the second most televised sport in India saw a galaxy of stars coming together to cheer on a mix of talented Indian and International Kabaddi players.

The ceremony was hosted by Mantra and Vrajesh Hirjee and was graced by several personalities like actors Aamir Khan and Rana Daggubati, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala & wife Zarina Mehta, Janardan Singh Gehlot - president of the International Kabaddi Federation and Sanjay Gupta – COO Star India more who turned up with great zeal and vigor to support the players and league.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu added a dash of political elegance to the power packed event. The highlight of the opening day was actor Aamir Khan’s awe-inspiring rendition of the National Anthem celebrating the core Indian sentiment of Kabaddi.

Speaking on this occasion, Aamir Khan said, “I am absolutely delighted to be able to witness first-hand the energy at the Pro Kabaddi Season 3 opening ceremony. Kabaddi is our very own sport! Something we Indians can hold a lot of pride in saying we have given to the global sporting world. Singing the Indian National Anthem today is a moment of great pride and intense emotion for me. I feel extremely happy and honoured at having received this opportunity. My only wish for the next Pro Kabaddi League season is for a celebrity play off to be a part of the tournament so we can also indulge in this wonderful sport. My dream team would have Rajnikant and Chiranjeevi on it – a sure shot winner!”

Energy levels intensified when V-Company (a group of 30 talented dancers who recently won the dance reality show – Dance Plus) took the stage by storm with their electrifying performance.

The following three days of the caravan will also have renditions of the National Anthem by South superstar & Pro Kabaddi League Brand Ambassador Rana Daggubati; upcoming child singer, Pravasthi and Bollywood diva Aditi Rao Hydari.

The Financial capital of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam (Vizag) saw Telugu Titans take on the defending champions U Mumba in the League opener match. The caravan will see further exciting duals over the next three days like the defending champions U Mumba taking on the champions of inaugural season Jaipur Pink Panthers on January 31.
