Sunday's contest will be between Indian batsmen and SA's bowlers: Smith
In his column for icc-cricket.com, Smith said: "Ultimately, I believe the match will be a contest between the Proteas bowling attack and the India batting line-up. "
With South Africa beating India in all the past three occasions in the World Cup, Smith believes that the next game will also be an exciting encounter.
"These two teams seem to have a knack of producing memorable games when they meet in ICC Cricket World Cups. Adelaide (1992), Hove (1999) and Nagpur (2011) were all defining games within the context of the respective ICC Cricket World Cups and I don’t foresee Melbourne 2015 being any different," Smith said.
He said: "History and the record books will show that the Proteas only need to ensure they bat second to emerge victorious. However, the script in these fixtures has never been that simple and I believe Sunday will be no different."
India defeated Pakistan in their first match of the tournament while South Africa have thrashed Zimbabwe last Sunday.
