Afghanistan ended New Zealand's hopes of reaching the Super 8 stage of the T20 World by beating Papua New Guinea by seven wickets in a group stage match here on Thursday.

After bowling out Paua New Guinea for 95 runs, based on a dominant show by Fazalhaq Farooqi (3-16).

Naveen-ul-Haq scalped two wickets to destroy the batting lineup and slim their chances of registering a victory.

Kiplin Doriga remained the top scorer for the Papuans with his knock of 27 runs.

In Group C, West Indies and Afghanistan have reached the next round of the tournament.

Chasing 96 runs for victory, Afghanistan cruised to 101 runs by losing three wickets with Gulbadin Naib remaining the top scorer for the South Asian squad with an unbeaten 49.
