T20 WC match against NZ: Shahid Afridi advises Babar Azam to play in number three position

Islamabad: Pakistan's cricket icon Shahid Aridi has advised skipper Babar Azam to play in the number three position in the T20 World Cup semi-final clash against New Zealand.

Skipper Babar opens the innings for Pakistan.

Pakistan, which was on the verge of exit, made a miraculous entry into the semi-finals after Netherlands defeated South Africa in a Super 12 match.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar went into the crucial tournament ranked as the top two T20 batters.

However, they have failed with the willow so far.

“Babar Azam needs to listen to suggestions,” former all-rounder Afridi told Samaa TV.

“We need to use Mohammad Haris with fielding restrictions. Babar Azam should drop to number three," former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi said.

“Utilise the powerplay, and Babar should come down to number three position and elevate [Mohammad] Haris as an opener," he said.

Pakistan won T20 World Cup in 2009.

Apart from Pakistan and New Zealand, the other semi-finals will be played between India and England.
