T20 World Cup: India aim for English victory today to reach final

| @indiablooms | Nov 10, 2022, at 04:48 pm

Indian cricket team will look to seal the other berth in the T20 World Cup 2022 final defeating England in the second semi final of the tournament at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday.

Except for losing to South Africa, India so far had a dream run in the World Cup sealing the top spot in the Group 2.

UPDATE: England won the toss and elected to bowl first

The Indian team management faced a catch 22 in picking their wicketkeeper-batsman from the two, veteran Dinesh Karthik and young player Rishabh Pant.

While Karthik failed to slam impressive scores in the tournament so far, Pant was also dismissed cheaply in India's last match against Zimbabwe.

But all eyes will be on India's new cricket sensation Suryakumar Yadav, who has turned out to be scary for the opponent bowlers in this tournament.

Speaking on Suryakumar's performance, India captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday said, "He's shown great maturity, as well, has taken pressure from a lot of the guys the way he plays, and it rubs off on the others as well, when they bat around him.

"He understands he likes playing on the big ground. He hates playing on small grounds. He doesn't like the smaller boundaries, smaller grounds. He can't see the gaps. I believe that he likes to see big gaps, and that's where his strength is."

Though the India camp faced injury scare twice this week after Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli getting hit during practice at the nets, the duo are all set to take the field against England.

Kohli, who scripted an improbable win over Pakistan in the first match, is still the leading run scorer in the World Cup.

The winner of the match will take on Pakistan, who reached the final by thrashing New Zealand a day ago, on Sunday.
