Tennis: Sania reaches world number 3 in doubles ranking

New York,Mar 23 (IBNS): Indian Tennis icon Sania Mirza has touched her career-best rank of three in the doubles, officials said on Monday.

In the latest rankings list released, Sania stands on the third spot with 6885 points.

Italians Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani currently hold the top rank with 7640 points each.

Sania tweeted: "Officially number 3 in the world today thank you all for Ur love and support always love you guys back."

Sania moved up in the rankings list after she and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis clinched the  BNP Paribas Open doubles title by beating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final of the tournament.
