Test: Warner smashes 102, Australia dominate fourth day
Adelaide, Dec 12 (IBNS) David Warner smashed the second century in the match to put Australia on the driver's seat at the end of the fourth day of the first Test against India here on Friday.
After bowling out India for 444, Warner hit a crucial 102 to guide the home side post 290 for five in their second innings at the end of the day's play.
After Chris Rogers (21) departed early, it was Warner and Shane Watson (33), who added 102 runs on the second wicket partnership, to bring back Australia into the match.
Warner looked very comfortable attacking the Indian bowlers as he hammered 11 boundaries and a six in his 166-ball knock.
At stumps, Steven Smith (52*) remained unbeaten along with Brad Haddin (14*).
Clarke probably will not take much time on Saturday morning to declare the innings and give some time to his bowlers to try and finish off the Indian innings.
Indian bowlers struggled in the innings and all of them went for runs.
Test debutant Karn Sharma took two wickets but not before giving away 95 runs in his 16 overs.
Mohammed Shami and Vrun Aaron picked up a wicket each.
Earlier in the day, Australian bowlers, and specially Nathan Lyon, bowled out India for 444.
Skipper Virat Kohli remained the top scorer for the side with his 115.
Murali Vijay (53), Cheteshwar Pujara (73), Ajinkya Rahane (62), Rohit Sharma (43), Wriddhiman Saha (25) added some crucial runs with their willows.
