U15 Youth League: Pune FC aim for positive start; host DSK Shivajians in the opener

Pune, Nov 7 (IBNS) Pune FC aim to kick off their campaign on a positive note when they host local rivals DSK Shivajians FC in the Under-15 Youth League Maharashtra Zone opener at the Pune FC Training Pitches in Mamurdi on Sunday.

Going into the game on the back of a host of friendly clashes against local oppositions, which included age-groups as well as open teams, Pune FC will be confident of their chances. However, the hosts will need to be cautious against a tricky Shivajians side.

“We are expecting a tough clash against Shivajians. We know the importance of a good start. It sets the tone for the group phase. We are focused on the task at hand and will be taking it game-by-game,” said Pune FC Coach Mohan Dass on the eve of their first competitive clash of the season.

Interestingly, the game will be played exactly a week after both Pune FC and Shivajians’ senior academy sides faced off in an U18 I-League clash at the same venue. That game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw and the same intensity is expected on Sunday at the Under-15 level.

On the team news front, Pune FC has been boosted by the availability of a full strength squad, with all players fit and raring to go. “We have been training very hard in the last few days. All the players are fit and giving their hundred per cent on the field. Luckily we don’t have any injuries to deal with. So we are confident of our chances, and hope for a good game of football,” added Coach Mohan Dass.

The Maharashtra Zone clash kicks off at 3.30 PM on Sunday.
