Virat Kohli shares cryptic post ahead of Australia ODIs. Did he just end retirement rumours?

Mumbai/IBNS: Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has dropped a cryptic post on social media just a few days ahead of the first One Day International (ODI) against Australia.

Kohli, who only plays the ODIs now for India, has presumably set aside the rumours of his retirement going on for quite some time.

The former India captain wrote on X, "The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up."

Kohli retired from the T20Is after winning the World Cup in the shortest format last year.

In a shock announcement, the cricket icon made his exit from Test cricket just ahead of the England tour earlier this year.

Since then, rumours started spreading about the 36-year-old's possible retirement keeping in view of India's next ODI World Cup set to be played in 2027.

Kohli was assumed to be leaving the spot for a junior player to get a considerable time before plunging into the World Cup battle.

The right-handed batter, who has now relocated to London, returned to India after long to join Team India before flying out for Australia where the national players will be playing from October 19 to November 8.

India will take on Australia in the first ODI at Perth on October 19.

The two teams will play three ODIs and five T20Is.
