World wrestling body clears Narsingh Yadav for Rio Olympics

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IBNS) : Wrestler Narsingh Yadav's chances of participating in the Rio Games were boosted after the world wrestling body, United World Wrestling, gave him a clean chit on Wednesday.

Reports quoted  Wrestling Federation of India of India president Brij Bhushan Charan  Singh as havig confirmed UWW's decision.

Brij Bhushan said the WFI  had re-sent Narsingh's name to UWW as India representative in 74 kg category after the National Anti-Doping Agency cleared the wrestler of doping charges on Monday.

The WFI had sent wrestler Praveen Rana's name as a replacement of  Narsingh, who was embroiled in a dope controversy.

Narsingh, who had earned an Olympic berth  with a bronze medal in last year's World Championships, was provisionally suspended after he was tested positive for a banned substance Methandienone.

However, in a dramatic turnaround, NADA later gave him a clean chit. Narsingh alleged that his food had been spiked as part of a conspiracy against him.
