Viral video from Kedarnath shocks internet: Pilgrims break queues, devotees quarrel over 'darshan'

The shrine, nestled in the scenic Himalayas, witnessed an overwhelming rush of pilgrims on the very first day, despite limited helicopter access to the area.

However, the heavy footfall also led to moments of chaos and disorder, with several videos from the temple premises going viral on social media.

In one such video, devotees were seen climbing over barricades in an attempt to break the queue and move ahead, causing disruption in the crowd management system.

Adding to the chaos, some people were also seen arguing and fighting while standing in line for darshan.

The videos triggered strong reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed concern over the lack of civic sense and discipline during the pilgrimage.

“One solution to Indian civic sense,” one internet user commented sarcastically.

Another wrote, “Ever since people started making reels for TikTok and Instagram, all this has been happening. Earlier, those who had been on the Kedarnath pilgrimage knew how peaceful it used to be.”

A third user said, “If a person is unable to go for darshan with a devotional spirit, then they should not go at all. True devotion is revealed on the path itself. By stepping on someone’s head and pushing others just to reach darshan of the Lord two hours earlier, the Lord certainly won’t be pleased. If you don’t have the patience, then don’t go. Visit the Shiva temple near your home with a pure heart.”

Another X user remarked, “Stay at home. Why waste so much money and go through this torture? IT professionals paying huge amounts just because they sit in offices—thanks to American dollars.”
