23 killed in Bangladesh stampede
Dhaka, July 10 (IBNS): At least 23 people were killed in a stampede during the distribution of zakat (donation for the poor ahead of Eid) in Mymensingh town in Bangladesh on Friday, media reports said.
Several people were injured in the mishap.
Eight people, including the zakat donor Md Shamim, were held in this connection, police official Abdur Rashid told The Daily Star.
The bodies of the deceased people have been kept at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
