Kabul, Sep 11 (Xinhua/UNI) Afghan National Police arrested 22 individuals on suspect of being affiliated with terrorist groups in three provinces overnight on Tuesday, the country's Interior Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

"The individuals, allegedly having link with the Taliban militant group and Haqqani terrorist network, were captured by Special Operations Police Force of Afghan National Police on Tuesday night, in the northern Faryab, southern Kandahar and eastern Maidan Wardak provinces," the ministry said in a statement.

The Haqqani network is a military wing of Taliban militant group.

An amount of arms and ammunition have also been seized from them during the overnight operation, according to the statement.

The Afghan security forces have beefed up security operations recently as Taliban militants intensified their activities across the country.

Taliban militants have not made a comment on the report so far.
