Afghanistan: 12 children die due to heavy snowfall

Kabul: As many as 12 children and hundreds of livestock died in Afghanistan's  Kunar region due to  heavy snowfall on Wednesday, media reports said.

In order to assist those in need, officials claim that emergency and medical teams have been sent to the site, according to Bakhtar state news agency as quoted by Khaama Press.

The incident happened in the Dara-e-Gul district of Kunar province, on Wednesday night, when the northern provinces of Afghanistan experienced a heavy snowfall, in summer.

According to Qari Khair Mohammad Ghazi, the provincial Director of Disaster Management in the Laghman province, rescue teams have been dispatched to the area to save people who are trapped in the snow, reports Khaama Press.
