Afghanistan: ISIS leader Abu Haidar and his 7 others killed during fight with security forces

Kabul, Apr 20 (IBNS):  A leader of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K), who was identified as Abu Haidar, and his seven fighters were killed while they were engaged in a fight with security forces in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, media reports said on Saturday.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military told Khaama Press that the clash took place in the vicinity of Deh Bala district last week.

According to a statement released by 201st Silab Corps, ISIS Khurasan militants launched an attack on security check posts of the Afghan Local Police forces on 13th of April, using light and heavy weapons including rocket launchers, reported the news agency.

The statement further added that the clash between Afghan Local Police forces and ISIS-K militants continued for three hours and support was sought from the Afghan army and armed forces belonging to 4th Brigade were deployed to assist the Local Police forces, it said.

Two Local Police soldiers  were reportedly injured in the clash.
