Afghanistan: Taliban releases all kidnapped passengers

Kabul, June 22 (IBNS): Afghanistan officials on Wednesday said militant group Taliban has released passengers of a bus, which was hijacked on Tuesday in southern Helmand province.

According to reports, militants had hijacked  a bus carrying 43 passengers and two trucks in the area.

While 38 were freed on Tuesday, the militants had kept five people with them.

Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Aqa Noor Kintoz, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban had also released the remaining five captives.

“We helped release the five passengers through tribal elders’ mediation,” Kintoz told the news agency.
