At least four people, including three Spanish nationals, died in a shooting incident in Central Afghanistan on Friday, media reports said.

A Spanish person is also among the wounded, a Spanish diplomatic source told CNN.

The Spanish diplomatic source told the American news channell that Spain’s Foreign Ministry is working with its Emergency Consular Unit to clarify the circumstances, attend to those affected in every way possible, and contact their families.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said the deceased Spanish nationals were tourists.

He posted on X: "I want to convey all my affection to his family and friends."

Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry spokesperson Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani said four people have been arrested for being involved in the shooting incident.

"Unfortunately, this evening in the Bamyan city, there was a shooting against the public, in which three foreigners including one Afghan were killed and four foreigners including three Afghans were injured," he posted on X.

Afghanistan has been ruled by Taliban forces since 2021 when foreign forces left the country.
