Afghanistan: UN staff member abducted in Kabul

Kabul, Jan 22 (IBNS): A UN staff member and her child have been kidnapped in Afghanistan's Kabul city on Monday, media reports said.

The incident reportedly occurred in Khair Khana area in capital Kabul.

The driver of the vehicle, in which they were travelling, has gone missing, media reports said.

"The woman had reportedly been on her way to drop her child off at school before heading to work when she was abducted," Tolo News reported.

Kabul police spokesman Bsir Muajhid confirmed to Khaama Press of Afghanstan that an incident involving hostage taking and murder has been reported from Khair Khana area.

Investigation into the incident has already started.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
