A 21-year-old man was injured in a targeted shooting incident in Australia's Queensland state, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred outside a Parkwood house on Thursday night.

Police are currently investigating the incident.

"Around 7.50pm police and emergency services were called to Woodlands Way after a man reportedly received a gunshot wound to his leg and other injuries to his hand," Queensland Police Service said in a statement.

The man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital, police said.

His condition is said to be stable.

"Initial inquiries indicate the incident to be targeted and there is not any ongoing threat to the community," the statement said.
