Dhaka/IBNS: On suspicion of being infected by coronavirus, a Chinese woman, who was working at Uttara EPZ in Nilphamari's Saidpur, has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital, media reports said on Sunday.

Dr Narayan Chandra, spokesperson for the medical team of the hospital's coronavirus unit, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.

The woman is currently provided treatment.

Dr Chandra further told the newspaper: "We have informed the authorities at Dhaka's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) about the situation.”

"They will send a team of medical staff from Dhaka, who will examine her and take her medical samples back to the capital for tests," the doctor said.

According to hospital sources, the Chinese woman returned to Bangladesh from China on Feb 4 and set to work at the Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) right away, reported the newspaper.

She was reportedly suffering from common cold and chest pains for the past two days.

The outbreak of coronavirus in China has so far killed over 1600 people.
