Bangladesh: Local teenager allegedly rapes minor in Jamalpur

Dhaka: A local teenager allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in Bangladesh capital Jamalpur, media reports said.

The incident took place Uttar para in Lakshmir Char union under the Sadar upazila around 8pm on Monday, Dhaka Tribune reported.

The child was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital.

Based on a complaint from the girl’s father, police arrested the local teenage boy for his alleged involvement in the rape, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Jamalpur Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salemuzzaman told newspaper: “Police detained the rape suspect after receiving a complaint Monday night. The boy’s accomplice is currently on the run but we are trying to apprehend him. Once the girl’s father files an official complaint with the police station we can take legal action against the detainee.”
